We are proud to have performed in this highly emotional and deeply meaningful historical event on Friday, March 25th, 2011, presenting a modern interpretation of a traditional Italian mourning dance.
“I use white handkerchiefs that reference traditional folk dance in Argentina, as well as the ‘Lamentatrice/Piangenti’ which were the women who were professional mourners for the dead in Southern Italy. Organizing layers of character driven drama and breaking apart quotidian social gestures. My movement vocabulary is a window through which I see under the make-up and below the mask of one’s public identity.”
